I believe most of my life experiences, both professional and personal, have led me to a career in nonprofit consulting. As a child, I experienced my father founding and managing three successful nonprofit organizations serving his home country of Kenya. Even then, I was struck by the impact that nonprofit organizations can have, both on those who lead them, and the communities they serve. This realization planted a seed that later grew into a passion for equipping and empowering those who do the challenging and often thankless work of advancing the nonprofit sector.

While I loved working in-house as a fundraising executive for many years, I became passionate about helping more nonprofits transform how they approach fundraising and development. This passion, tenacity, a good sense of humor, and the ability to adapt to any situation have resulted in millions of dollars in individual, corporate, and institutional foundation donations raised over my fundraising tenure. Having amassed over a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector, I have developed a keen expertise in finding ways to advance organizational missions through philanthropy.

As a first-generation Kenyan-American woman from humble beginnings, I bring a unique perspective to philanthropy work. I believe in the power of right relationship, accountability, empathy, and gratitude - and I bring that philosophy to my fundraising work. My experience as a Black woman and a fundraising executive has crucially informed the lens through which I approach my work. As such, diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice are at the forefront of everything I do.
